D2 Cat

Hello,
I might be restoring my Grandads D2 Cat. And I am looking for experienced help. If anyone on here has redone a D2 could you give me some ins and outs things to look out for. I don't need another money pit.
The Cat has sat for about 50 years now. It has always been shedded.
What kind of cost to getting the pony motor up and going.
What kind or expense am I looking at when getting the fuel injector pump redone.
This like this would help alot.

The main thing is if the engines are stuck or if they turn over. You might not have much trouble with the fuel injection system. It is a good idea to start with a filter inspection/change.

It may not cost much money to get it started but it will take a lot of tinkering. There are folks here to help you.

I bought an old D2 at a farm auction about 10 years ago. It was in pretty sad shape, but the pony motor ran, and the engine would start, although it had a bad miss. I got it home, drained eveything, cleaned what I could, flushed fuel tanks, filters, etc. Then I pulled the head, had it redone and that was about it. I did have to have the lift cylinders for the blade redone, that was about $300. I think all and all I spent less than $1,000 to get it up to snuff. I paid $4,300 for it.

I was surprised how many parts Cat still carried for it.

first thing I would do is get bot a parts book and a service manual. you can order good copies from this site and may luck out on amazon.com or craigs list. good luck
