D21 grill

Was at the Half Century Show. Lots of D21's. Some had chrome grills while some were painted. Was the chrome ones an option or was there a reason that some were chrome while others were painted? Maybe a stripped-down version?

*** The story goes the last year or two (68-69) they were painted cream instead of chrome, to reduce costs. Now, many that were painted may have been changed to chrome, but never an "option" from the factory.
