D450 loader info

I need some help. I am looking at a Case D450 track loader serial # 4223680. It is in very good condition with a new motor (350hrs)New undercarriage. The torque converter was rebuilt about a year ago. Went to get it and the converter will not build any pressure at all. He tried to prime the pump but that didn't help. Machine will not move at all. Everything else is very good. It has plenty of fluid on stick. Also said pump was rebuilt about a year ago. It has been parked for about 30 days and all was well then but what would be the place to start looking for the trouble?

sometimes the charging hose that goes to the pump will collapse on itself when it"s charging (sucking fluid in from the tank) and the pump starves itself.
Make sure the fluid levels are ALL where they should be.
Check for water in the hydraulic fluids.

Usually those things don"t muck up but hopefully it"s something simple.

Keep us posted.

good luck

We did remove the large hose at the pump and primed it with fluid. Hose is very heavy wall and did not seem to collapse at all. That hose goes to the filter back by the firewall and the appears to go directly to tank. Is it possible for the filter to just stop up after 30 days of no use? There is one other hose at the pump and I assume it is the pressure hose, it is quite a bit smaller in size. When we took the large hose off at the filter to prime it there wasn't a drop of oil coming out, I would have thought there would be some running out of the filter.
Thanks for the info. I really need some help.

reddog848: Ya might post this problem on the Case Tractor forum here at YT Mag since there might be Case mechanics reading there? good luck & I've been in similar need buying a crawler that sudenly would not turn right. ag

are you sure the TWO speed lever[high and low] buy your left foot down buy the floor bord is NOT in neutral????????low is forward and it will get bumped in to neutral if you hit it

i think you are looking at the wrong hose !! the pump the make it move is the little pump on the right side under the alt. or gen. right in front of the oil filter it [dose not] get oil from the tank it gets it from the rear end and feeds the TC most of the line is steel pipe and stones and rust make small holes in it and then you will lose prime

I have a D450 crawler loader. The serial plate is very worn but I can make out the number as 306229. That is one digit short of the number you folks are quoting on this site. The bucket was made in Canada in 1995. Any thoughts?
