D6 at auction,I believe it is 8U, hydraulic blade with tilt, pony motor has spun rod bearing, consequently will not run unless towed (got to pick the blade first), chains and sprockets replaced at less than 300 hours ago with grouser material added, owner used it for years in his excavating business, and I believe him since I saw it numerous times over the years at various locations across the county. Any suggestions for a value? Thanks everyone.

8U is a narrow gauge 9u it may or may not have oil clutch. With a spun rod bearing $3000.00 would be tops. I bought a 9 u with hyd and direct electric start in 1993 for $1500.00. If you have to replace the crank the repairs will be more than the machine is worth

A friend of mine bought a D6 serie 8u last week
and paid $4500.00 and he has wet master cluch and he had a poney with bad carburator and magneto a I sold him these parts and the dozer
is perfect now.

Our area is very economically depressed normally without a depression (recession), so it isn't well endowed with cash right now- I'm going just to make sure this thing doesn't get given away. I was called to get it running for the owner before the sale, I checked all fluids first cuz it has set a long time. The pony dipstick had metal fines on it and was down on oil. I topped it off before starting, but apparently the damage was done--within a minute or so of starting it started knocking, as it got louder, we stopped trying to start it. I think it will be difficult for them to get $2000 for it given our location and its non running condition. It does have a real good low hour undercarriage, and a winch, so it may surprise everyone, and bring lots more. The other strike against it is transporting it- we have a lot of posted roads and bridges that make it tough to go many places, I do have someone in mind with a rear load drop/low deck semi configuration and I only need to go 12 miles, but if you have to go 12 miles, you may as well have to go 120. I'll let you all know Friday how things turn out.

Wonder if this is the same dozer i looked at today in ny? hard to tell and i was going to ask you all the same questions? does anyone know where to get parts to make it electric start?

Just got back from auction in Belmont, NY. D6 brought 2800 plus 10% comission and 8.5 sales tax. was bought by a large construction outfit i gave up at 2200. tracks were great 3 idlers leaked and pony was shot never heard it run.

I want to know where you get your conversions- our dealer quoted $1600 for the conversion kit: parts only.

Was bought by agent from local small construction firm. He is a good friend of mine. As a matter of fact, we both worked at the same vocational school as instructors in the heavy equipment repair cirriculum. He told me after sale that he bought for another fellow: it is going to Ohio to a collector friend of his. I trust his story- he has no reason to hide anything. The pony has a con rod knock- it will run, but makes a horrible racket. It developed this knock while trying to start the diesel engine in mid April in preparation for today's sale.

Good, i am glad she will have a good home. wish it was mine but at least they are not going the steal the undercarriage and scrap her.

Never go to a dealer for parts on a machine that old. you find one sitting in a junk yard a buy the parts. The local dealer here would want to sell you a starter tht will not mathup with the flywheel then you have a choice of replacing the flywheel or buying and installg a new ringgear.
