Did the fall maintanance on one of my '39 9N's tonight. Found a dad burn mouse nest in the bottom of the air cleaner. Guess it did it's job and kept the stuff from getting in the carb and the manifold. Tractor was running good.

Throw a bunch of mothballs under the tractor. If you use it during the winter months, when you are not using it, park it back over the same area. Them damm things(mice) get to where you least expect them. Since the mothballs. No problem. But I do use the area where I keep my tractor so that probably helps also.

mice can't tell if there a man running around with moths on him, orr a moth running around with a man on him. I would stay away too.

I seen a rat in my shop tonight while I was working on the wiring for my 2N. The thing was the size of a softball. He tapped me on the shoulder and asked for a smoke!!! I have my air rifle in the shop now for when he comes back asking for something else, hehehe.

I will definitely have to try the moth balls. Heck that might even keep my moth problem in check.

I found a mouse in my 8N air cleaner too. The funnel and screen between the hood and the air cleaner were missing, which I replaced.

Ha! Ha! Ha!
Just about shot coffee out my nose when I read this one. "Tapped me on the shoulder..........." for some reason I found a little humor in that one.

(quoted from post at 21:29:43 10/27/09) Throw a bunch of mothballs under the tractor. ....

I hate it when anecdotes are just thrown about with no real, scientific information! Just how does one determine the s ex of a moth.... and how many will I have to castrate to protect a tractor?

When I put my camper to bed for the winter I always put moth balls everywhere, So far never had a problem with mice.

Don't you know that moth balls come from the other side of the lab as polyesters? Do you know how many polyesters have to die just to make a tie????
