Dragged home a old David bradly with a sears tagged motor in it Motor is stuck but complete unit in very good condition other wise . What are my motor options can a guy get parts or what is a good replacement motor. Jerry

I've had several. One had a Clinton engine on it, another a Tecumseh. Any 3.5 to 5 h.p. engine will probably fit. But, if yours has the Two shaft engine on it, for reverse, remember that when shopping for an engine. Main thing to check is mounting, shaft length, shaft size, and a few other things.

A lot of them had Briggs engines. Go to the link below with the Sears model from the engine and see if you can cross it to it's Briggs number.

Here's a site for a cross-reference if it's a Tecumseh:

(OOOPSS... looks like that's for newer engines... perhaps you can turn up a cross-reference for the older engines on GOOGLE.)

If you have an original cast iron briggs engine whith a sears no. It is a very good engine.Open it up and have a look. Most of the time you can reuse the head gasket and you can make the oil pan gasket.Sears no's start with a 500. The briggs no. would mod 6 or 8 , but sears (David Bradley)used thier own numbers. 500.
