David Brown 4600 selectomatic

Recntly purchased a 1968 4600. It does everything I need for the investment I made. My question is "is there a case model close to or similar enough to use at the parts desk?" I have gotten some manuals on-line, but am curious to know the DB lineage. Fastline, Hotline, and my web searches don't include much in these Tenneco years.

Well Kind of interesting questions. David Brown is still in business doing hat they were famous for, making gears. If I remember correctly the 4600 is a gas tractor. There are more gas David Brown tractors in North America then there are in the U. K. I think(?) I may have some advertizing literature for a 4600 yet.

Thanks for the helpful response. I can appreciate your honesty. My query is to find find lineage from the DB line to the Case line.I know very little about DB in that era. The 4600 is close enough to the Tenneco buy out that I would guess there is some transfer. I've been told that it crosses to the 850/950 Case, which I can find nothing for in my books or online.

The chassis of the 4600 is the same as a David Brown 880. I may have a parts manual for a 4600. I think it just shows those portions that are unique to the 4600, such as engine and electrical. For things like the transmission, rear end, etc. that are shared, it says to refer to the 880 parts book.

whats the chance I can get a copy of that parts manual. I have a 1970ish DB 4600 with a 12 speed trans that needs the engine refreshed badly. I can find evrything that is common to the 880 very easy, but now that I am ready to start on the engine I need a little help.
