dayton wheels

Have a 1936 c30 1.5 ton international stake truck with dayton wheels and Goodyear K type(Ibelieve0 diagonally split rims. All 6 tires need replacement. Don't mind losing the split rims but i don't want wide schoolbus sized tires that seem to be necessary with the newer 22.5 inch solid rims. Current rotted tires are mixture of 6.50 x 20 and 7.00 by 20. Anyone know what my options are . The old rims are serviceable but unsafe to work on.Thanx

it didn"t register went i wrote that i guess now that i read it again they are the ones my grandfather used to tell me he lined up with a coke bottle

You can buy 6.00 -20 or 6.5-20 tires and tubes from the Model "A" Ford Catalogs. Old trucks are popular now. (Snyders,Batton's,and a bunch of others.

Anyone that has old trucks can deal with the split rims without getting hurt. Some people wrap chains around them or fill them with a remote hose nozzle or put them in a cage. I've heard of putting forklift forks over them so if they did let go you would have a protective guard. Once it is aired up I think it is safe.

I'm not sure what 22.5 tires would be but that could be a problem. Sounds like you are dealing with 20 tires which are not hard to find.Cleddy

I just put new tires on my grain truck. It has widow makers. I didn't have any problems finding someone to do it, but the nearest town is a 3000 person farm town. They are used to working on our stuff. I think the coop would do it but that would have been the next town over. I don't go any farther than I have to at 45 MPH.

"serviceable but unsafe"??? Take them to a tire shop that does heavy truck/farm tires. They have the knowledge and equipment to do the job safely.
