DB 880 Clutch

My brother was bush hogging with the DB 880. When he finished up he stopped to change gears - let the clutch back out, and nothing. The second stage for the PTO works fine, but the tractor won't move. I assume it's time to split it and put a new clutch in it. Any pointers, or things to watch out for?
Thanks
Pete

First you have to determine if the main clutch is stuck on the shaft or something. It can happen. IIRC there's an inspection shield you can remove and check to see if that's the problem. Usually a clutch going will give signs of impeding failure before ceasing to work.
