dc tractor 6 volt regulator problrms

need help on trying to find a 6 volt regulator for a dc case generator has two wires and was told it was the one with a third brush everyone that i have talk to say they dont make a negative ground voltage regulator would like to keep it negitive ground whats my options thk for any help
 
If you only have 2 wires, one from the generator to the "regulator" and the other one goes to the dash from the "regu;ator", you have a cut out not a regulator. You need a diode. Questions?
