Dearborn snow plow

I have a dearborn snow plow on my 841 ford tractor that operates off of cables to the 3 point. I am thinking about selling it, I just put new cables on it. Is that something somebody would be interested in and any idea what it would be worth?

Is it the same style as what is in the photo? Single cable with three pulleys? Where are you located?

I saw one for sale on craigslist in Duluth,MN for $200 and it stayed there for about a month. It didn't look as nice as the one in the picture on this thread though.

No it is not like this one, it has 2 long tubes back to the rear axle and the cable are anchored to the front axle. I will try to get pictures this weekend. I live in wisconsin also

Here is a picture of a "Dearborn J-1, Bulldozer", Frame, mounting brackets, 2 cables.
I gave $ 250 for frame, fabricated front and rear mounts, custom 500 ton press, $75, 2cables, welded old rear clevis on end with acetylene.
I think its worth $500 now.
Its on my 1945 2N with loaded tires and chains,
Biggest thing I pushed was an underbody road grader, with attached, implement trailer partialy stuck in pure sand without grass. Got on the front truck snowplow AND PUSHED HIM BACKWARD !!!

Blinko---post a pic please. I have an all original Dearborn--no fabricated parts on an 8N.

The Dearborns like the one I have (same as in Charles Picture) would need to be lengthened about 4" to fit on a 100 Series Tractor....

I would be willing to look at what you have as I need a front plow for my 860, but do not want to refab my Dearborn to fit it.

Mark---these front plows work very well, especially with rear wheel weights, loaded tires and/or chains.

What kind of tractor would you need one on?

If I could find a front plow for my 860, I would sell my all original Dearborn with Dozer blade...the one I have is 100% original and I paid $400 for it about 4 years ago.

This is the one that I have, the only thing different is I put snow plow springs on the blade so it has some flex. I am thinking of asking $400 for it.

I will try to put pics on this weekend. The frame has been lengthen 4 in already because the guy I got it from had it on a 8n with a 6 cylinder conversion. Can't hardly see the welds he made.

Hidden behind the angled blade are two springs off of a pickup snowplow blade. They are attached to a welded plate on top of the blade. The bottom are around the horzitonal blade pivot pin.
With depth control springs set on back mounts, I run with no plates under plow plate and in 2nd gear and high range in Sherman transmission. With very deep snow I might run with plow in up position in first run. Snowdrifts I push to side of driveway and then make another hit.

I had the cables fabricated at "AAA Sling and Industrial" at 425- 36th st in Grand Rapids Michigan. Phone 616-530-0500. They make cables for Merles Semi truck Wreckers" They have a 500 ton press to swedge ends on cables. They had on hand the 5/8th NC thread for front axle connection. They didn't have a swedge clevis for the back connection, so I had them just swedge on an "End Cap" and welded the existing clevis to that. Had to get a mechanic that "UNDERSTOOD WHAT I WANTED." Used old cable for reference and length of cable to make new.
