Deere Walking Plow

I am restoring a Deere Walking Plow for my wife. After disassembly and brushing off rust, I found the model number of 0125L-A. I also found a number on the beam 378 or 37B. It looks more like a B instead of an 8. I have been unable to find any information on this plow and John Deere gave me your site and suggested I ask you. Can you provide any info or can you steer me the in right direction? Thanks, Mike DeCora

Where did you find the number 0125L-A and why do you think it is a model number? The beam number 378 is the short beam for a no. 8 Rice Stag Gang plow which is a 2 bottom sulky plow. There is no 37B beam but there is a 37, that is a beam for a Deere Subsoil plow, a very peculiar looking walking plow with more of a shovel than a plow bottom. There is a very popular beam #376 used on lots of walking plows, ANY chance that is the number? More of a description might help too.

I am not familiar with the proper names, so forgive me if I use the wrong name for a part. Anyway, I found the 0125L-A number on what I am calling the shoe or foot. The beam and plow blade bolt to this piece and it sits on the ground when in the upright position. The blade points to the left (when standing behind the plow). The number 0125L-A is raised, as is the word DEERE. The number on the beam is stamped, as is JOHN DEERE. After looking at the beam number, it is 378. Near the front of the beam is an adjustable arm with a smaller plow blade attached to it. When I say adjustable, I mean you can move the arm towards the front or rear of the beam. There are no markings on the adjustable arm or plow blade. I will put it back together (somewhat) and take a few pictures then send them on.

The smaller plow blade is a jointer, I suspect what you call the shoe or foot may be the frog, but whatever it is I am stumped for now. I have searched plow catalogs back to before 1920 and if the beam number is 378, I suspect someone cannibalized a gang plow and adapted it to a walking plow. John Deere used VERY FEW numbers starting with the letter 'O' and none I can find starting with zero, I wonder if a digit before the "0" was worn off. Any other number might help or a picture. I'm just not sure what you have.

Bob Collins, You certainly seem very knowledgable about john deere plows. How about Massey Harris walking plows? I am looking for info on a model 51 and a model 21 MH walking plow.
So far no luck on here on any where else. Thanks for your time.

Bob, have you ever seen or heard of a John Deere AM walking Plow. There are no other numbers on the beam. There are numbers on other parts that I could report, but the "JOHN DEERE AM" is clear on the top of the beam????????
