Richard. I’ve removed the pump on JD 2020. When replacing will the pump have to be close to matching the slot in shaft or can I just move back and forth until it lines up. Also do I need to replace seal on shaft.

The Dot on the end of the shaft SHOULD align with the Dot inside the pump. If engine was timed correctly before removal using the pump timing marks, and engine NOT turned while pump was off engine just make sure when replacing pump it's timing marks are aligned. The rear seal should be replaced, the front seal keeps oil out of pump and if in good shape could be used again. The rear seal keeps fuel out of the engine oil and is critical that it works right.
