i put a roosemaster pump on my 88. it came off 1800. when i use F P mark on flywheel & set pump mark. its doesnt run. need help? thanks

The 88 was timed to the start of injection. The Roosa Master is timed to the end of injection. Now which 1800 diesel pump? Also if you are going to work the tractor some you may have way too much fuel, the oil will get thick and I know of one case where a farmer did this and spun a main bearing.

First - are you sure you've got the "FP" mark with the #1 cylinder on the compression stroke and NOT the exhaust stroke? You HAVE to make sure because it cannot run if timed on the exhaust stroke.

The "FP" mark is 23 degrees before-top-dead-center. I suspect that is too early when using the Roosamaster timing marks. Find out what the timing specs are for the tractor that Roosamaster came off of and use those specs. Without those specs it's going to be guess work since you cannot be sure what the Roosamaster timing marks actually mean. They are custom tailored to the engine models they go on.

When all else fails, you can air-time the Roosamaster pump.
