What is the difference between the 46 and 47 ih balers the 47 has a cover on the knotters and the plunger. What else is different if anything? I have a 46 and know where i can get a 47 will the parts enter change like twine knifes etc. Also does anyone use the razor blade twine knifes on the 46 baler? Thanks for your replies. Delbert

I am not sure as I never was around the 46, but most 47's I have seen have the all twine knotters on them. Does the 46?

Do a Google search on Case IH parts and go to their webpage, you can pull up everything they've made and campare part numbers.

i put the gear box off of a 47 on a 440 and used parts of the 47 to replace some of the parts on the knotters. what else will fit i'm not sure, but i think the parts that deliver the twine to the knotters are the same too. i can't remember what they are called. you'd have spare rims, drive shafts etc too. sounds like a good thing to do to me. if you have the storage i'd strip off anything i think i might need and get it out of the weather.
