Difference between a 70 and 70A Front Loader?!?

Okay guys, I just got a 1990 855 with 218hrs and am looking at getting a front loader. I see there are two different ones available, a 70 and a 70A. What is the difference between the two?

Thanks

There may even be a NEW loader available to fit that model. This would be the best choice since the new ones lift more and won't be worn out and you will get the right brackets. They have quick tach buckets and faster quick tach frames.

You have to REALLY watch on used loaders for these as the same model numbers were used for 2 totally different loaders depending on if it fit a 655-755 or the 855-955. So if you buy a used one MAKE darn sure it came off of a 855 and you get ALL of the brackets !

Thanks for the reply. The one I have a chance to get is a 70A off of a 955. Haven't seen it yet, so I don't know what shape it is in.

Shawn:

Do an archive search as this topic came up not long ago and there are photos in the posts that will you help you. I think a 410 and 420 loader will fit, and then also the newest ones. Beware that the price difference between a brand new unit and a decent used one is substantial. I went the cheap route and I found a good 70 loader that came off of an 855 for my 2wd 855 and it does a nice job. The 855 has less hydraulic volume than some of the newer CUT's, so even if you get a loader that will "lift more", it might be slow. The 70 loader is a nice pairing for the 855, IMHO. I also have a 4310 with a 420 loader on it, and it lifts a bit better, but given the size and weight of the 855, it gets a lot of work done. An 855 is not an earth mover, but with a loader it sure does beat a shovel and a wheelbarrow.

Agree with other posters. Be careful. 70 loaders are not all the same. Notice the picture of FIT's tractor on his 855 where it sits in the rear brackets and then look at this 70 loader on my tractor. Same model number on the loader but they are NOT the same. Stupid of JD to do this.

Pictures from when I was working on my 72" mower deck project. I found a new deck $2100 stamping on eBay for $300, but it required moving the mounts to match my old deck. Same deck, different weldons. Cut them off of the old deck and attached to the new, then DuPont 263 "Fulthane" urethane. Turned out real nice.

I built that office area 14x30, with A/C and heat and hot/cold water (electric tankless) so I have a place to cool down in the summer without taking dust and dirt with me into the house. 8' doorway allows me to roll in an engine stand/hoist, roller cart, or drive the 855 inside for cool working. Storage above kept me from losing much floorspace. Still lots of organizing to do. I can't seem to find the time between projects to get shelves up in place. Stuff just breaks faster than I can get to it, the trees keep toppling over, and then there are the neighbors. They like to come over and visit while I work on their stuff, but it's a happy little community.

Everyone meet at FITS house and we will show him what a mess is. LOL

I like that shop too.
As far as luck? Lucky yes that Almighty had F.I.T. born in the land of opportunity. The shed and estate was not luck. It's the result of working hard and working smart.
