dirt blade

I've got a TO30 and am contemplating getting a 6 ft blade for it. I need to grade the banks of a creek so that I can cross it with the tractor. Is there enough weight in the blade to put downward force for it to dig/level or will it just ride up on top of the dirt?

It depends on the dirt. Hard clay is difficult unless you use a box blade with rippers. These blades are designed to grade relatively loose materials(top soil, gravel,sand, etc).

I"d also recommend you consider a 7 foot blade so when you angle it it covers most of the rear tracks.

If you want your blade to cut you shorten the top link. If you want to level the dirt and not dig lengthen your top link. The same principal applies to a three point tractor blade as a motor grader. Bob

i have 2 blades (heavy and light duty) and a box blade

i use the box blade on my drive way and to drag leaves in the fall. I find it to be more useful

but i loaned my light duty blade to my neighbor, he has a small ferguson and he loves the thing, told me 3 times how much he has enjoyed using it. but has not brought it home as yet.

still have him on my list of people who have borrow stuff from me.

My suggestion on blades is to get the heaviest one your tractor will pick up. That way when ya put it down something will happen.

Buy a cheap lightweight one and it"s not much good for anything but maybe plowing snow.

A lot depends on if the blade has a sharp cutting edge or a dull worn out one. Dave
