Dielectric grease is sold at any good auto parts store and it the correct grease to use for thatI read an article about using the right grease on the points cam/ lobe. But I have been unable to find this special grease.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Most any auto parts store should have or be able to get Standard SL-2 or it's equivalent. (To give you a part number to work with.)I read an article about using the right grease on the points cam/ lobe. But I have been unable to find this special grease.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Distributor cam grease is not the same as dielectric grease, at least in my opinion.Dielectric grease is sold at any good auto parts store and it the correct grease to use for that
I can only go by what I was told the grease used in a distributor was and I was told use dielectric greaseDistributor cam grease is not the same as dielectric grease, at least in my opinion.
Standard Motor Products SL2 Lubricam. is one. a good parts store should be able to get it and it is available on Amazon.
I will just say, I don't agree with who ever told you that. Distributor cam greases are labeled as such and when I was in VO tech school we were taught to use the correct distributor cam grease (or just a drop of oil on felt wiper of the point sets that used a wiper felt). Delco Remy used to have a distributor cam grease, Standard makes one, Mallory made one, Bosch makes one, NAPA has one, there are others and to my knowledge none of them are dielectric. I still have a tube of the DR cam grease, and it is far from dielectric grease consistency. None of the tubes of dielectric grease I have here list for use on distributor cams or point rubbing blocks.I can only go by what I was told the grease used in a distributor was and I was told use dielectric grease
that grease your talking about goes under the electronic module to keep it from getting hot which causes the vehicle to stop. more misinformation. and you were told wrong.I can only go by what I was told the grease used in a distributor was and I was told use dielectric grease
85% Petroleum Mineral Oil.This is what you want.
Lol. Of course it's related to petroleum jelly. Just like most other grease, lubrication oils, gas, fuel oil, plastics, etc.85% Petroleum Mineral Oil.
