ounds like you have 12v negative ground on a front mount distributor tractor??? If yes, then red wire is powered from ignition switch. But, what coil do you intend to use? And, how do you plan to wire the coil?

i also bought a 12 conversion havent installed it yet im in the process of doing that but yes youre rite its a front mount 2n and will be a 12 volt negative ground once im done the hole distributor just has me stumped .also what i was wondering where does the wire come out of the distrbutor at unless i drill a hole in the side of the distributor i shoulda stuck with the points lol

I think i figured it out I only bought the electronic plate im thinking i have to buy the complete kit and i have to use a round coil now i obviously need to do more research

ou can use the EI unit either with the square can coil or with the adapter for use with the round can coil (better choice). I can work you through this, but it will be easier for both of us if you call Pertronix toll free number and ask for Carl. He will send/fax/whatever complete instructions & give whatever help you may need. If that doesn't get you what you need , by all means, contact me again. My e-mail is always open in modern view.

i just got my kit from this site and just got it all hooked up and works really well glad i got the complete kit and was really easy to install

Scrappy......I would install 12v system and make sure it's working right before I installed the EI.Won't take much to burn up the EI if things are not right. don b
