Do I have to split my B??

I am taking the oil pan off to do the rings and cannot get the back bolts out of the pan. Do I have to split her?? She is a 1939 B. Can I put longer bolts in-between the motor and toque tube and just slid it back to get at bolts? Do I need to drop the wishbone to get the pan out?

What keeps them from coming out? The bolts to long or your fingers to big? It is close quarters but if someone has not put long bolts in they will come out. If you have to split it you need to block it level. The bolt holes in the engine and torque tube are sloppy enough that it you do not block level you will have weight on the drive shaft and clutch plate. Blocked properly the longer bolts would most likely give you the room to remove the pan bolts without damage to the drive shaft.

I've never had that problem on a B or a C. I can't imagine what's going on unless the bolts are too long. I would get them out as far as they will easily come and cut them off- making sure there's still enough to get hold of. Originally may have been 7/8" bolts. 3/4" is plenty long enough.
