The car makers sweat blood to gain 1/10 of a mpg off their CAFE mpg rating, so if a simple little gadget like that really worked, it would be standard on every engine they build.

However, straight exhaust systems and superchargers give more horsepower for realistic gains.

It didn't give me better gas mileage, but I did pick up a few horsepower. If you are JUST going to put in a throttle body spacer you will not notice much. But, when it is coupled with a cold air intake, custom exahust system, and a slight computer tune it does make a difference. If you are just looking to pick up 1-2 MPG, don't waste the money. If you already have a cold air intake and exahust system, you may very well see that 1-2 MPG if you drive conservatively. Always a hot topic on any truck or car forum.

Not necessarily. The car and truck manufacturers also have noise standards that they must conform to, and sometimes this means that they have to more or less restrict the air flow in order to keep noise levels down. I have modified the air box on my 2001 chevy one ton with the 8.1 and I have gained a solid 2 miles per gallon. I am still using the stock air filter and the stock MAF sensor. Noise levels are noticeably increased but only during hard acceleration or while getting a heavy load moving. No noise difference under normal cruising. The best part is that I didn't spend a dime doing it.
