dog / ib profen

sometimes my golden retriever still thinks hes a pup and over does it. i will give him one when i see him limping a bit. perks him right up

Our vet prescribed a liguid NSAID for our senior cat. Makes her very playfull and young acting again! Good stuff!

Perhaps at very low doses..... Canines do not process NSAIDS like humans. Human doses to the canine will cause bleeding of the liver (very painful) and can cause death.

Small doses on occasion.... Your vet can get you on a better plan. Some vets view even steroids as safer for your pet than NSAIDS.

I say take the dog to the vet...

Thanks for the replies I gave him less than half a pill if he doesn't feel better the next couple days I better take him in

Get some pills from the vet. Had a lab that limped terrible with pain. Vet friend gave me a bunch of pills for $2. I don't know what they were, but they sure did help her.

I wouldn't give the dog anything other than what a vet would prescribe. Because Tylenol will kill some animals I've been told.

I just use plain old aspirin myself. My Doctor is always recommending Ibuprofen or or something but I refuse to use it on myself and sure wouldn't give it to a dog.

We have been giving our 13+ year old golden (85#) 4 200mg ibuprofen along with 1500 mg adult chondroitin
every day for several months. Only issue is getting her to take it. Peanut butter helps.

I bought a little tool from my vet called a pill popper. Looks sort of like a long, thin syringe. I now have about 3 of them. At the time, they cost $3.00. Worth every penny!

You pull back the plunger, put the pill in the slotted rubber end, gently open your animal's mouth, stick in the popper, push the plunger and all done. Quick and easy.

Ask your vet about one.

My wife is a pharmacist and says NEVER give a dog ibuprofen. 1 200mg pill is enough to give a 10lb dog an ulcer, much more than that can be FATAL. Do your 4 legged friends a favor and see a vet.
