I have a chance to buy a Sachs-Dolmar P6800i chain saw from a friend. It looks to be in great shape and has not been abused. What do you guys know about these saws, I'm not familiar with this brand of saw? Thnaks for any comments.

My dealer was kicked aside by Husky, required too big an inventory... He now handles Dolmar. Says he thinks they're every bit as good.

Dolmar saws are excellent. They are every bit as good as Stihl or Husqvarna but in some parts of the U.S. dealers are few and far between so parts can sometime be tricky to track down. I don't let that keep me from using them though. I run several of them and love'em.

Dolmar parts can be as close as your local Briggs dealer. The IDN is the US distributors for Dolmar parts. The IDN is all 7 the Briggs central distributors is the US, so parts are now very easy to get......if you ever need any.I sell Dolmar saws, and I think they are second to none, so don't be scared of it. It is a great saw, if still in good condition and in good shape.

I have been buying them as used at auctions. I now have about half a dozen. Most guys dont know what they are. The makita saws are the same item and are quite good in my opinion. I have a top handle saw I got for $15 and a 73 cc saw that I have about $50 in now that I fixed it. I am quite happy with them.

Do a search on the subject on this site - I don't know about the model you're looking at but we discussed the PS5100 a bunch. Dolmar is good!
