Double tree for tandem pulling

For fun we thought we'd try tandem pulling at our event this year. Does anyone have some pictures and/ or design specs for a double tree (spreader bar) suitable for two 12,500 tractors. Is it better to have multiple holes to adjust how wide the tractors are set apart? I have only seen photos of this being done in NY state so if anyone has experience with this it would be great to find out how to make it work the best.

Look for our video, tamdem pull oliver77. We were at around 10,000 that day. I had some friends in the past with 2 oliver 2255"s, they used a plow hitch, 3 point with a lift cyl. for the 3rd. link.

I'll look for photos of ours. We have not used it for a few years, but it was fun. We did all kinds of funky pairings such as a Case LA with an Allis CA, Allis B with an Oliver 70, and a Farmall 400 with a Ford NAA. We created weight classes represented by the combined weight of the two tractors. Often a big tractor/ little tractor combo performed very well. The trick is to get the two tractors to maintain the same ground speed. For example a creeper gear JD almost has to be paired with another similarly geared tractor to work. Good luck & have fun!!

You want to have the participants to weight the front enough to keep them down pretty well...
It can get real hairy at the end and while trying to Both stop at the same time..

Tn. Valley Pioneer Power Assn. has been double tree pulling for the past few years. Ours is 10ft wide with 30" chains on it. We have double tree'd 2-1066 IH & 4430 Jd's with it. We are in the process of building a 3 horse hitch to pull 3 tractors!! Ours' is a 3"x3" square tube with a 3" flat stock strap and abut 8" jack bar on the back side. Note: Gotta have the reinforcement strap and a piece of I-beam will not hold up... don't ask!! LOL

Our club uses a long cable more or less hooks to one tractor goes through a pulley that's hooked to the sled then hooks to other tractor. Has a 10 inch I beam 10 or so feet long right behind the tractor to keep the cable spread.

Well that was different than I expected. I was thinking two tractors side by side the way we pulled horses, that was where I thought the driver aspect would come in. Learn something everyday.
