ok..I know im new and i know im learning..I have my 3pt drawbar...is i had a friend who farms tell me i should look into getting a drawbar that mounts from under the tractor and toward the 3pt bar...So if i can do this what is the advantage..and what do i need to do this.

You can put a trailer ball on the drawbar & haul your wagons, etc, if the drawbar is stationary. You can make it stationary by getting 'stays'.

If you don't plan on using the drawbar in an application that requires it to be stationary, you don't need stays.

so what is the correct drawbar i need. ive seen several things on ebay..but im not sure how it mounts..again i am sorry for my novice questioning

If all you want to do is keep the drawbar stationary, check out p/n 9N5182 (the drawbar) and p/n 9N 5374, the stays.

If you want a swinging drawbar, that's a different animal.

What do you want to do w/ it?

It would be good to know what tractor we are talking about. If it is a 9N or 2N then the rear end is not set up for a swinging draw bar. The 8N's had the rear end set up with tapped holes for the attachment of the swinging draw bar.

If you have a NAA, your swinging drawbar would look like the one I have on my NAA. (See picture)

The 11 hole drawbar that goes between your lift arms is doohicky at best and dangerous at worst.
I don't care how many stay bars you add.
Buy the good kind like LeoinMI shows in his picture. Safer, better, simpler, stronger.
One of the most significant improvements the 8N had over the 9/2N was a good drawbar. That same style was continued on to all the Fords after that.

The swinging draw bar as pictures above has a bracket that bolts on under the transmission and a bracket that mounts over the PTO area and then the draw bar its self. You can buy them from Y-T I think and also many good farm and home places. They are by far better then the 3 point draw bar when it comes to pulling things like a trailer or say a hay rake etc. With a swinging draw bar things can not come up and stab you in the back if things go wrong and many people have been killed by the 3 point type draw bar because they can come up and break loose and then you have the trailer tongue etc in your back

The swinging drawbar bracket is there..looks to have been there a while just was missing the bar itself...I agree with everything that was said...get my bar and then figure out the install thanx

Here"s what the bracket looks like that attaches to the underside of your tractor where the drawbar gets pinned to.The pictures are of the original style bracket. Y.T. has a more modern version if you look at their parts store. Notice how the pin that holds the drawbar in place pushes in and twists on the bracket.

thanx leo..I went out to look..the pin is still fastened underneath the rear end. So all i need is the drawbar..are all drawbars the same lenght..can i go out to TSC and get one? they only had one type..I assume they are all teh same length
