Drill Doctor tools any good?

I have stayed away from them as the name Drill Doctor sounds too much like a TV info-commercial. In other words a fancy name; items with these type of names usually turn out to be junk just to get your money. I see they also have knife and blade sharpeners. They are made (or maybe just assembild?) in the USA.
Anybody have experience with them?
Thanks,
Bill.

I bought one , and I think it works pretty good. I wouldn't worry about the 3/4 adapter , when they get that large , they are pretty easy to do by hand .

Yea, it's a pretty cheesy name, but the company that makes them is Darex. One of the best names in the tool sharpening industry. I picked up a 3/4" capacity model on Craigslist recently, and am satisfied with it's performance. The only downside to the drill dr. is that it can only do 118 degree and 135 degree points. I use 90 degree quite often, and still have to sharpen those by hand.

This has been covered before . Some guys will say that you really should just practice by hand to not need one and it comes out better . Some guys will say the Darex is great. I got mine as a gift and let it sit for about a year. One day I tried to sharpen a bunch of drill bits and it suprised me how well it worked. I don't know the cost but if you have alot of bits it is worhtwhile.

They work great if used properly. Too they are a great company to deal with and stand behind their product if there are any warranty issues. Like another post said this topic has come up several times recently. Do a search for Drill Doctor, and you should have plenty of advice to go on.

local machine shop said I could have their's as they stopped using it, wish they had told me that before I wasted money on one

The main reason I got one was that I was tired of being in the middle of a job and breaking or dulling a bit causing me to postpone the job. I was pleasantly surprised with mine. In hindsight I would have spent more on their split point sharpener.

USA made!!!

I like mine. It's a 750, I think. Makes a neat split point. I couldn't do a split point by hand if my life depended on it. . .

I have one and it works great if you follow instructions. Not hard at all. I think it even came with a video.

Yup, got one, quite happy with it. I have a large drawer full of drill bits which are in varying states of sharpness. With this tool I shouldn't have to buy too many more bits.
