Well, we drained the hydraulic and transmission sections, and found LOTS of crud in the bottom and sides of the case. Lots of diesel fuel and paper towels to the rescue!
Since we took off the 3-point lift, we pulled the 3-point cylinder and piston.
Wow, the piston and rings are really scored. There are a couple of score marks in the cylinder as well, but nothing like the piston. I'm guessing I should replace the piston and rings, but the question is how "bad" can the cylinder wall be without replacing it? I don't know if you can even get a replacement (2-1/2" dia.).
Also, the O-rings on the hydraulic tube and between the hydraulic 3-point cylinder and top case were squished flat! So, we're replacing them as well.
Is it worth while to replace the 2,000 psi pressure relief value while I'm in there?
Finally, is there a retrofit kit for a filter on the inlet to the hydraulic pump? I'm hoping the pump isn't as bad as the 3-point piston--that will have to wait for another year.
