Dropping oil pan

I am not getting any oil pressure in my 8N and the manual says to "drop the oil pan", I have taken all the bolts out on the sides and the pan won't drop. It looks as if you have to remove the fan and the water pump... What am I missing here?

Thanks

I hate to tell you this , but the front axle bolts to the oil pan . Be sure to support the tractor before attempting the axle removal . Block under the transmission as close to where the motor bolts to tranny as possible . It would be a good idea to have help when dealing with this project .You might check with the guys on the ntractor board also .Please be careful & make you're right with the Lord before you start .God bless, Ken

It could have a bad gauge, a blocked line or maybe the pump lost it's prime. I do believe I'd check out all of those possibilities before I'd drop the pan. If it's lost it's prime, remove the 15/16 hex nut to the right of the water pump. This is where your oil gallery is for the valves/lifters is. Don't lose the little spring under the nut. Use an oil squirt can to put about a cup of oil in here. Replace the spring & nut. Turn the engine over & see if you get a pressure.

Ron, you have to unbolt the front axle. If you have removed all the pan bolts without the tranny being blocked up, you have a dangerous situation there. Dont get under it unless you block things up. Get a floor jack and some wood blocks and jack it up under the clutch housing. That will unload things and let you remove the rest of the bolts. The pan is heavy, when you finally get it loose, use the floor jack to lower it and raise it up. BE CAREFUL.

Ron, [b:654c4848f0]The pan has two front bolts that are barely reachable with a swivel socket from the gap in the bottom of the front axle mount.[/b:654c4848f0] Additionally the front axle mount needs 6 bolts removed from the front, 3 each side.

You will have to support at the tranny, as said. I had to push the axle lightly forward to get clearance from the front axle mount. Also, be sure to remove the drain plug or the screen attached will interfere. HTH
