has anyone built this motor for pulling I'm looking into maybe setting one up for a light limited class it has to be less than 410 ci so stock 407 open rpms p-pump intercooler. I heard you can't do much to the head on these is this true? thanks for any info

we did an 856 a few years ago it fit into the class well. you can get the head worked on it will help. the p pump will help get big tips also. you can drop an e mail and i will tell you what we did and some things not to do

Pullers have been building the DT407 motors for pulling since they were brand new.I've seen them taken up to well over 1000 horses.

A guy named Vern Over in PA even had 4 chargers on one about 30 years ago so he must have been flowing some air thru the 407 head.

Theres an 856 IH puller similar to what you want to build in northern MO.Its called the Bear Branch Binder and runs pretty good.It pulls with IAMO.
