Dual headlight bracket, M

Anybody ever seen a dual headlight option on an M? I thought I saw some literature about this somewhere but can't recall where...

Anyway, the headlights are mounted on telescoping arms. The telescoping arms are mounted in a tube that is attached to the front gas tank bracket.

I thought I knew the answer to this until I
seen where they were mounted.. Now I'll hafta
look at the catalog to see if this was a option.
I have a M with the Fan bracket headlamp mount
& just added another bracket for dual lamps..
If this one was a fabricate add on by an owner
I kinda like the design & the adjustablity of
it.. Those are 5/16 square headed set screws
for Locking in place aren't they?

I have not seen that before but I will check my M & MT sales literature tonight when I go home and see if I can find it anywhere. Looks pretty cool though.

Don't remember seeing the bracket in the parts catalog... but it's been a while since I looked.

Yup, the set screws lock the telescoping arms in place. The welds are clean and everyting fits together nicely. If it was a homebrew they sure did a nice job.

Here's a shot of the top of the bracket after refinishing and reassembling. Headlight wires come off the main harness and feed thru the hole in the top, middle of the tube.

I thought all M's ad dual headlights in the front? The L/LA had one, looks like a farmer modified headlight bracket on yours.

That sure does look clean and you are correct that it is not in the parts catalog anywhere that I can find as well. Looks good with the new paint on it.

Had a quick look at the service manual and parts catalog... The service manual mentions an option for dual headlights, but the image doesn't show the mounting bracket. (Maybe that's what I am remembering.) The parts catalog only shows the single headlight option with the contoured mounting bracket.

Pretty unusual to see an L around here, but will keep my eyes open at the shows this summer.

BTW, if any of you guys get the chance to tour Dubuque Works, the last time I was there a nice M was on display near the assembly floor. Wish I had taken my camera with me...

At the bottom of the attached picture is the only brackets I know of for front mounting of lights on the M/MT unless someone used an L or LA bracket. The L or LA bracket, if factory, is nothing like what you have. The are cast "L" shaped brackets that bolted where the grill and chin sheetmetal meet. I have not seen any L series with the style moutning brackets you have on your M.
