Duetz-Allis 9150

I was wondering what people thought about the Duetz-Allis 9150.
A dealer close to me has got one. I have not gotten a chance to go look at it yet and was wonderinga few things about them.
1. Can you shift the tractor on the move easily. I see they have a 3 speed power shift with 18 gears. This tractor will be used to haul chopper boxes in hills on the road. All the tractors we have know doing this job are running 170+ hp and have their hands full so will this tractor do this?

2.Will this tractor run at 170-180hp with out problems for hauling this silage?

3.I heard the powershift mant be the only weak link. If so how hard will it be to repair it and what can a person do to make it last longer?

4. What things should I look for in looking at the tractor?

I has 3839 hours on the tachand the asking price is $26500 with duals. We need a tractor with 540 pto and red or green in this catagory or $50000+++++ so we are looking for cheaper options wondering if this is one of them.
Any feed back is welcome.
Thanks Chucky

The 9150 is a good tractor. No major problems with them. With the hours it has and the over all condition of it is good it would be a good buy. The only problem is the tractor is only rated about 135hp. You would have to go to a 9170 if you want the 170hp plus.

If I am thinking of the right models that tractor was built by White. The transmission, rear end, hydraulics, cab, etc are the same as the White tractors of the same vintage. Okay, the cab is square instead of the 3-corner type on the White. Interior is the same. They put a different front frame on the White, installed the Duetz engine, and put on a different hood. I wouldn't worry about the 3-speed powershift. That is the over/under transmission that Oliver/White used for years. Very durable and reliable. Will handle 200 hp plus. No more expensive to repair than any other color. Don't go downhill in the low range. It will freewheel. Direct and high range will hold it back going downhill. Rear end is nearly bulletproof. Will handle 200 hp plus also. Hydraulics are okay. As far as the engine goes I have no idea.

I grew up and worked around White tractors so I know a couple things about them. The White tractors of that vintage with the Cummins engines are the best tractors White ever built. I also worked as parts man at a White dealer for 3 years.

Hope this helps.

As stated.....a White tractor with a Deutz engine. Only one thing to look for, does the engine have any oil leaks that would cause dirt to accumulate. These are air cooled so any obstruction(aka dirt build up on cooling fins) will cause problems. And Deutz parts are expensive! Very good engine otherwise with excellent power and fuel economy. I would not be afraid to push it to 180 hp.
