Trying really, really hard to be open minded and objectionable here.

After freight, hoses and fittings the grand total comes to $1015 for that silly hitch.

Pretty much all CAT I except for the “combination” eyes in the swing arms. Reminds me of a hitch on a lawn mower or garden tractor. :>(

Has anyone actually lifted a bale of hay with a Saginaw hitch and not had it tear itself right off the tractor? Darned thing sure looks light to me.

Maybe I'm just cranky 'er something; just not impressed at this stage of the game.

Guess I'll throw some oil to it and see what happens. :>(

I've never had a problem picking up big round alfalfa bales with my Saginaw,... but I had to put some weights on the front of my SM to keep the wheels on the ground when picking up a bale.

Never liked the "look" of those outside mounted stabilizers, but appearance otherwise looks pretty good. Neat compact package. However if it can't pick up the desired objects, the pretty face may no longer look so good.

Yup. Sure have. See where the shiney plates are on the top of the arms? It looks like they put a little more metal in there to beef it up.
Bale fork worked fine, but dad's big mower/conditioner ripped it right off the tractor on a hard right turn. Glad he did it and not me.
Still have the thing laying on the trailer where I brought it down here...he welded it up, but I have not convinced myself to mount it yet.

There's plenty of muscle there; not worried about that part.

It's those tiny little 5/8" pins that concern me. There's no way it will ever stand up to my mower without bending itself into a pretzel. That sucker is heavy!

I dunno. Maybe the darned thing will work on the hay rake anyway.

I had a Speeco 3 pt on my H when I was in Ogallala Nebraska. I sold it to a guy who lived in Grants in 1980. It was a great unit but I didn't use it for farming. It would pick up a pallet...200 steel post OK but I also didn't trust the axle clamps all that much so I put a brace from the bottom cross up to the swinging drawbar point.

I can see right now that I'll have to drill some holes and add a second set of axle mounts to it.

The way it is, and I gotta be honest, I sure won't go grabbin' onto a 1500 lb bale.

But then, maybe they were never designed for that? Knew I was in trouble when I saw the CAT I center link. Oh, oh. :>(

Does Allan actually have non matching tires on that tractor? That 3 pt. will never work with those mis-matched tires. One will get traction and then the tractor will just go around in circles. LoL

That's why you buy a tractor with a three point on it. Simple. You could have had a 584 international for around 5000 (these things have MASSIVE 3 pts on them), and so far you've dumped a grand on a 3 point and another for a wide front.

I'm sure Allan's aware of all the numbers/options. If he wanted a 584 he'd have one.

I can fully understand and appreciate his updating an M. A nice M with power steering, live hydraulics, wide front with oversize front tires, and a three point hitch is a pretty sweet unit.

In my situation, I have a late model DC CASE which I have way too much money into. I know I could have a tractor 25 years newer for what I have into the DC, but no 1980 tractor can take me back to my childhood like a DC CASE!

Looks good Allan. Sounds like Russel has a good idea about bracing it though...an ounce of prevention. Sure got plenty of hydraulic, so something's gonna move. Its not like that front end won't support weights.

I have the same hitch on my H. But I have never lifted any round bales. But It will lift the entire back end of the tractor off the ground. I am thinking that the shear strenght of a 5/8 hardened pin would be several thousands of pounds. If your putting that kind of stress on it, I would worry more about the clamp loads ( bolts?) or even the rear axle casting.

if you look close in front of the front colter, you can see the stand all the way down. there is no way an H without weights would holt that up if my plow like that makes my 4010 front end a little bouncy! looks neat though!

Allan I would have thought your two rams will lift way more than your lower links will cope with. Mounting of lower links to tractor is going to be your weakest point. Just go steady thats all.
