Ebay ATV - too good??

So I am asking if this smells like a scam. Looked at an Arctic Cat 400 on ebay in Michigan last night. Represented as a 500, looked to be a 400, 2006 year, with front plow. $2800 was the asking price for it, which is way cheap. Thought it was 300 miles away, so my brother emailed telling them we would come look and possibly buy it if it was good, as it was darn cheap.

Email back today from the guy, He MOVED to the United Kingdom, the ATV is in the UK in a crate in the harbor, still says it is an 500 cc. He says it was used in MI before he moved, wants to sell it here to avoid title changes, registration and pollution stuff in the UK. Says to pay through Pay Pal, when he gets the money he will begin the transfer shipping process, which shipping is included in the 2800!! Sounds too good to be true, Im leery of buying something in a crate, which I can"t see. He could stick me with a piece of junk. Thoughts??

Scam . I hope you don"t get into something you"ll regret . You could tell him to ship it to your city first . Then if you like it & it runs as good as he says , money will be sent thru Paypal . Then you"ll see how good his word is . Again , beware of Scams . God bless, Ken

Always a scam.
Report it to e-bay. Nothing will happen to them, but at least it gets deleted.

Oh, I lost all interest when I read the email, and I wont buy something I cant see, I just thought it was a crooked story. Ebay removed the ad.

You see the same kind of thing in the summer with jetskis.

Only the bait and the seasons change...the scumbags remain the same.

When dealing with Ebay, always use the "ask seller a question" link. If you see something in the listing that refers you to a mail link, or you see the message saying they can't receive Ebay mail or their mailbox is full, then expect a scam. Ebay doesn't have limits on email for sellers. A good seller will have all of his information up to date. Regular auctions run the full 7 days, not 24 or 72 hours. AND if it sounds too good to be true, it undoubtedly is.

Send him a e-mail that you only have a money order in the amount of $4000. You would be willing to send him this money order if he would then send you the bike and $1000. Tell him he can keep the extra $200 for his trouble.

That should let him know you feel his offer is a scam.
