BOWTIE I am wanting to build a mod v-8 puller. They allow us up to 410 cubs for small block and 472 for big block. I was wondering what kinda tractor should i look for and what kinda block should i use. Any help would be would help me out a lot.

I have a chassis and know where couple more are, one is a oliver, one cochshutt, and one massey harris. Sheetmetal is oliver, coop and david brown. Other people own the last two so if interested I can contact them.

The word "Econo" in tractor pulling is like cheap gas and jumbo shrimp it just doesn't work .

Great looking tractor, i love a nice neat and clean one. Now go kick some buttt..

Post some action picks when you get some, lets see some wheel speed .

I got a couple of tall deck big block 427 chevy long blocks laying around if anybody is looking. They are in need of building, not running, disasembled, but for a big block, would make alot of torque! They say Massey 44 or the Cockshutt 570 was a strong setup for V8's Thats all I see around here when they got V8's in em.

That's a nice ride Bowtie!! Who did the paint scheme? ChadS

Extremely nice looking tractor. hope it pulls as good as it looks. What weight classes will you pull? What speed? What did you use for a clutch?

I have a 440 chrysler that I put in a M, but not nearly as nice looking as yours looks. I'm in so. MN, it would be fun to see yours pull, maybe pull against you. (I don't mind getting beat by a good tractor)

MN DAVE 2

THIS HAS A BUILT TURBO 400 AUTOMATIC MANUAL REVERSE 3 SPEED. PULLS IN 5200# AND 5500# IT WEIGHS 4800# WITH ME IN THE SEAT. THE GEAR COMBINATION SHOULD RUN OUT MID 20 TO 27 MPH GROUND SPEED WITH HIGH WHEEL SPEED. THANKS FOR YOUR INTEREST. WHAT CLUB DO YOU PULL WITH?

There aren't any "clubs" around here, we just pull with several independent fairs, ....days, that type of thing with each having their own rules which makes it kind of interesting.

What kind of hp are you estimating? What rpm's do you engage clutch? The 20-27mph, was that wheel speed or sled ground speed?

I'm using the same M transmission, have a Ford diesel ton pickup clutch which was same diameter of origional flywheel. My engine is pretty much stock, bigger carb, cam, electronic ign, about 400 hp. Mine too weighs under 5000#, I've pulled as high as 7000#, mostly 5500, 6500#. Sled has clocked me at 16mph which is about as thrilling as I want to get.

It made more sense to me to spend a fraction of the cost of a hot "stock appearing" engine on my whole tractor. It sure is fun to pull.

I've only pulled against a couple of other "hybreds" before. I'm running into a lot of the old "if you can't beat them, only let them pull for exhibition".
