DOES ANYONE KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A EDISON-SPLITDORF SERIAL # S 3737 TYPE RM 03037 AND A EDISON - SPLITDORF SERIAL # W10238 TYPE RM 03177 IS THE ROTATION AND FIRING ORDER THE SAME ? WOULD ONE OR BOTH OF THESE WORK AS I HAVE A EDISON - SPLITDORF SERIAL # W12580 TYPE RM 3177

What did those mags come off of and what are you trying to put them on? Just a couple thousand applications to look through in 60+ pages of application charts to find them! Make sure you read the numbers correctly.

THE LAST SET NUMBERS SERIAL # W12580 TYPE RM 03177 CAME OFF MY 1940 CASE V TRACTOR WITH A F124 CONTINENTAL MOTOR AND THIS MAGNETO IS FROZE UP. AND WANT TO TRY AND PUT ONE OF THESE OTHER TWO MAGNETO'S ON THIS TRACTOR WAS WONDERING IF THEY WOULD WORK ON THIS TRACTOR. THE OTHER TWO I'M HOPING WILL WORK ARE SERIAL# S 3737 TYPE RM 03057 OTHER ONE IS SERIAL # W 10238 TYPE 03177 ALL OF THEM ARE EDISON - SPLITDORF MAGNETO'S THANKS

Thanks that makes it much easier to look up. Never could see a RM 3177 listed? Edison Splitdorf application charts showed the RM 03057 to fit the Continental F124 as mag being RH drive, flange mount, 20º impulse, 7468 drive cup. The Case V tractor in same charts showed to use a RM 03191, RH drive rotation, 7468 drive cup but 10º impulse lag angle that accomplished by a special stop plate for impulse trip. Why the 10º instead of 20º I don't know as both F124 engines but must have been some reason? Engine drive lugs may not line up and start timing will be off. 5º is not much difference but 10º can affect it a lot. Case 4JMA and 41 mags replace those ES RM later anyway but if you can't find those use a Wico XH-1344 set up for 15º or any Wico, Fairbanks Morse or Bosch mag off a Continental F163 like on Lincoln welders or forklifts would work also being setup the same. That Wico XH is being made new again today and parts are more readily available too.
