I'm curious now. Awhile back, I saw a model Farmall tractor with the "Electrall" on it, and now there's a thread here on YTmag where a guy has a real life tractor with the same attachment. What exactly is an Electrall? How common are they? Is it something that you might want to have around? Thanks in advance for your input.
Good Luck and God Bless,
Tommy

Someone with more knowledge will no doubt be along directly and fill in the holes, but basically Electrall was a short-lived attempt to replace mechanical PTO with electrically driven implements.

It used a big honkin' 3 phase generator (driven, I believe, off the belt pully shaft) and the idea was to have an electric motor on the implement (like say a baler) and just run a cable from the generator on the tractor to the motor on the implement.

It could also be used to power your house or milking parlor or whatever.

I think it scared people not familiar with electricity, and wasn't signficantly easier to use or more efficient than traditional PTO drive, so it sorta died on the vine.

There is a picture of a tractor with one in the link. The Electrall is the large round gray thing on the side of the tractor and is a generator.

I don't know what the wattage it could produce is. But it takes 2HP to make 1000 watts, so if someone knows the HP of the tractor in the picture, that would be close

I have a pull type IH Electral that I bought at a sale many years ago.It was brand new and had never had the pto shaft installed.Paid $150. for it.We use it occasionally if the power goes out for any period of time.It has 110 and 220 and the generator has a GE tag on it.

I remember the ads back when the 400's came out. They had a picture of a 400 pulling a combine and a baler in tandem. With the cables draped across the combine I could see a disaster in the making.
