electric chain saw

i am getting long in tooth and i have a bunch of limbs that have fallen in the last few months .pulling to start and lifting a reg saw is just too much for a long period of time.what is a good electric saw about 12 in?

Hi, I just got rid of a electric chain saw. It was a Remington. My wife used it to trim small limbs, etc around the place. She liked it for the simplicity of use. I didn"t think much of it, as it was no competition to a gas saw, and would really only handle small items. The chain tension adjustment was imbedded in a plastic molded position and it split out. If you used it too hard the chain would get out of adjustment quickly. I had to adjust the chain on that saw three to one comparing it to a gas saw.
My wife still likes an electric for the small stuff...I still think they would be perfect for people going camping in a camper at a camp ground having electricity, but not much else. Just 2 cents worth. Enjoy your day.

I had a Poulan for quite a while. Worked fine. Had more power than you'd expect for a cheap saw. When it died I got a Mac. Had it for a long time, but don't use it much. It's nice to know you don't have to screw around to get it running. Just plug it in. No electric saw could ever come close to a good gas saw, but for occasional limbwork, it's good enough, and much simpler.

My wife recently came home with a B&D battery chain saw (18volt) that she bought for about $ 70. It works better than I would have imagined. It came with a pretty good chain and we have been cutting small stuff up to about 1.5" easily.

Where are you at old timer? Plenty of us young bucks around here looking for an opportunity to to get the chain saw out. We call it fun!

a while back i was topping trees with an old bucket truck i picked up. got real tiring starting the saw up in the bucket, so i picked up a remington pole saw, about 80-90 dollars at farm and fleet. basically its a chain saw on a stick. remove a couple bolts from the extension handle, and use can use the saw as a stand alone. its lightweight and doesnt do a bad job for the money. had it about 8 years, still works good.you wont do any lumberjacking with it, but it sure beats a buck saw!!

well stumpalump,i appreciate the offer and i have a counteroffer. i use about 4 cords of wood per season and i have a two yr stihl 16 inc, a tractor to drag logs,a splitter and chains. i will supply lunch and half the wood if he will come to my place and do the labor. i can even run the tractor and splitter some if you stack my half. oh yes i also have a 100ft 3/4 rope with several pulleys. i live in south central nys
i have 15 acres of white oak and maple some red oak bob w.

I have an electric remington brand.. cost? 65$ works great.. cuts as good as my gas powered poulan.. as long as i have electric nearby.. weighs less than a 2-litre soda..

for 99$ you can get the pole saw kit that has the 12" electric saw and a pole kit to limb trees..
