Frist I want to thank all who responded to my post. thank you all. now on to what Ive found out.
1) a phase converter cuts down the power of the motor. not good
2)VFD all tho sound good I could not find a place to get a cheep one. they all were @250.00 to $685.00 way too expensive for me .
So being that the spes. sheet calls for a 3/4 hp motor @ 1725rpm's , I have decided to go with the 3/4 hp motor for $100.00 .
Again thank you All and have a great day

Well that should work.I dont know too much about the VFD as a 3pole generator. That might be the way to go if you want to buy a milling machine also.Sometimes I need things for my lathe and I think gee I didnt pay that much for the whole lathe. When I got my Clausing took the motor out and got it on the bench before I realized I ASSumed it was a large 3 phase motor.OK good its single phase put it back.Im thinking Dummy try reading the nameplate befor taking the motor out.I was releived not to be going to the motor shop anway. But its double stupid cause I S a lectician.

dr sportster: What ever am I going to do!!!!!!
that was a typo ERROR was'nt it I didn't think a lectrician would do such a thing. my my my. (chuckle) Have a better day there Bud
