putting igition on 1954 tea-20 ferguson put magnet slieve on point cam bottom it out but dust cover won't go all the way down any comment's???????????

Are you sure it is right down? If Pertronix, they are a tight fit. I think the Pertronix part no is LU149 (or something like that)?

The dust cover should fit on.

I can post a photo if it may help.

That part number sounds correct. It is for Negative ground/earth.

Mine fits perfectly. I'd try to gently ease it off - careful they are fragile - check inside for any moulding burs etc then try to fit it in a different position?

It is a very firm fit. You will need to ease it off by hand, no tools.

A number of guys have fitted them with no problems.

Just a thought - I can't think how but has the top shaft in your distributor risen up perhaps? Is it all free around the governor weights area?

I had one that I thought bottomed out, but it really wasn"t. It even ran that way for a while and then got out of time. I had to take a knife and scrape out the cam area until I could tap the sleeve over the cam.
