Engine loader

Hi guys
I was talking to someone the other day who was telling me about a system he seen used to run in newly built motors. It was basically a shaft, pulley and four paddles which move air when all connect up to the tractor with a belt. Anyone know what Iam talking about? Anyone got pictures or plans on how to build it? Were they effective as I cannot afford a dyno for breaking in new rings etc?

The name you'll usually hear for this (at least here in the US) is a "Baker Fan". Put that in Google or whatever your preferred search engine is and it should bring back some hits.

Sounds like Fanning mill used to clean the grain from the shaft.

We would hitch our new or rebuilt tractors to the manure spreader. This would give us light load,medeum load, light load. You need to vary the load and the engine speed to get a good breakin. Or hitch up to a 3 bottom plow set for
9"deep,put tractor in 3rd gear and tell them it used to pull it.

Did the baker fan have any way of measuring horsepower or did it just put some kind of load on the power source?

Hi Guys
Thanks for the replies, I will check out Baker Fan and see what comes up. Hope I can find enought information to build one as I dont have access to lots of land for using manure spreader or plough.
