When it rains it pours.
Pulled head. Number two sleeve is loose. Comes up with piston. No witness marks from sleeve on head. HOWEVER, witness marks on head and pistons from pistons hitting head! One piston had no marks, two had marks that were just barely visible, one you could see.
New pistons and pins. New bearings throughout. Rod bushings were not replaced but tight.
Neither head nor deck height were milled. Don't know if P.O. had ever milled head or block but I have owned tractor since '74 and it never knocked before.
Rods have stretched (why didn't it knock before)
new pistons are wrong pistons, etc.? Pin height in pistons wrong?
Take a grinder to combustion chamber? Thicker gasket?
Talked to N tractor "expert" in Tulsa. He can't think of anything I haven't already mentioned. He claims that new heads have more clearance. Wants to sell me new head.
