engine swap 1850

I would like to know what problems i might have changing out a blown gas motor to a perkins out of a combine .

It would be much cheaper to overhaul the gas engine. The diesel you would need the whole front from the transmission foward of a 1850 diesel includeing most of the engine parts.

You will need a tub off of an 1850 / 2-105 with the perkins, different bell hsng for the torc and probably the engine too. You will need the mount that goes on the front cover to the frame unless you make / change to motor mounts like on the 2-105 that rest on the top of the frame rail. The 354 perkins out of the combines have a higher fan mount than the 354 in the 1850. Take a look between a 2-105 and a 1850 and you will see the difference. Unless you have an 1850 354 perkins donor it could get expensive, but you will have a great tractor when you are done. The 354 is a really good engine and lives a long time.

You have to remember too, that combine engine doesn't even have a clutch. It's direct drive to the drive shaft. I put a combine engine in place of my original 354 diesel and I needed almost everything from the original engine. The only thing that interchanged was the block, head and injector pump.

I would. Just having done a swap with the old diesel engine for parts,I wouldn't even attempt to put a Perkins in to replace a gas engine.

Has anyone had any experience swapping in a 372 perkins from a combine into a 1850 diesel. I have a good 372 and a 1850 with a bad 354.
