engine trouble antifreze leak need help

Long story short here, is there a test kit for an engine to determine if it is burning antifeze in a cylinder? Or in the exhaust? I am aware or the oil sample method but we do not seem to have a/f in the oil.

You should be getting white smoke from the exhaust
if its leaking into the combustion chamber. May have a cracked head, head gasket blown or a sleeve with a pin hole if it has sleeves. What

I have used a kit to see if exhaust gasses were getting in the radiator. that was 20 years and more ago but there should still be something like that.Paul

Put pressure on cooling sys and remove spark/glow plug and have a looksie in cylinder.

I usually put pressure on the cylinder and look for bubbles in the top of the radiator.

Rad. pressure is 15lbs max. and compression is 125 psi and up to 300-400 ? if diesel so if the gaskets starts to fail it will easily push the water out of the rad. A rad, pressure tester can be put on and see if it builds pressure up fast when you turn it over or run it.

They make sniffer testers to test for exhaust gases being pushed into rad. But I am not convinced they work very good as I had a false reading on one .

If like an auto engine the intake gaskets can leak and let it get sucked in while running. What are you working on ? This can make a BIG difference as to where to look as some engines have well known problems doing this.

Run the engine with the radiator cap off and look for bubbles in the coolant.

At the temps we have here all the exaust is white! Entirely normal.

Cylinders taking in water are very clean and the spark plug will be much cleaner than others in the engine.
