Would one of you living in the area mind telling me if the shadows are correct for a noon photo at this time of year? Thanks, Bob

My interpretation of your post is that you want to know when the shadows would be at a minimum. My logic runs like this: at noon the east-west shadow would be at the minimum if you are near the center of the time zone. In the northern hemisphere, the north shadow would be at its maximum December 21 or 22. The south shadow would be at its minimum on or before July 21 or 22, the exact date depends on how far north you are.

Not there presently but the sun will be pretty low in the UK during this time of year, even at noon. It"s round about the shortest day of the year and the UK is quite far north. I believe London is in the region of 54 degrees north and so the sun doesn"t achieve much height. Hope this helps, tractorsam

When i was in England, prior to going across the Channel, during WW II, i was amazed that the place stayed light until almost eleven o'clock, then just went dark, as if somebody pulled a big shade across the area!
Until somebody explained it to me, i always thought it would be good for us in the States, so we'd have more time for outdoor work and play!
And, of course, the sun came up earlier than here.

Seems about right to me, Ivinghoe is about the same latitude as me (51'45" or so) but about 150 mls East. The shadows don't look unreasonable for Christmas time - sun is pretty low at noon around Dec21st.
