exhaust covers

I recently attended the antique tractor show in Boonville Mo. this past weekend and noticed that some of the restored tractors had a rubberized exhaust cover on the exhaust pipes. They fit snuggly over the pipe and had a velcroe fastener at the bottom. Does anybody know where to purchase these or were they simply made by the owners? Any help would be appreciated.

Folgers makes mine (wink).. but I'll sure be watching this thread to see if someone does know who is making those new fangled ones..

I made one by capping a heavy wall pipe. Doesn't blow off like the one that Mr. Folger made.

I received an email reply from an individual that said "Sharps Antique Tractor Works" in Fair Grove Mo. sold them. I contacted them and they do indeed sell them. The bad news is that their supplier no longer makes them. Their phone number is 417-933-3204.

However.. I only have to scale the side of my tractor 1-time for that cap, as when it starts it blows it safely off to the side so i don't run it over.. when i come back and park, i slide it on... 1 less trip up the ladder (wink)

I'm all for making repeat tasks easier. So, if you scewed the coffe can to a small stick...
you could put the ladder away.

My brother and mother and I were making and selling them at one time. Got out of it pretty quick. Youd be surprized at how many people we had want to know if melting it was covered under the 30 day warranty. Sold about 250 of them.

I just put a curved piece of pipe on mine doesn't get wet inside and directs the noise at the crowd they love it.

I just wonder why guys just don't put rain caps on?

All of ours got 'em, and we naver have to climb on them to cover the exhaust.

What's wrong with an old-style clinky flapper on the exhaust? An air intake should have an inverted J pipe anyway to keep dirt (and rain) from falling in, don't you think?
