Extra Deep Well Sockets

Looking for a 9/16" & 11/16" six point deep well socket that has at least 6" of usuable socket space. Impact sockets would be great but a standard deep well would be OK. I checked the usual vendors such as Graingers and Sears but didn't have any luck. The only idea I came up with is to weld two deep well sockets together and cut one of the ends off. Are super deep well sockets available ? Thanks for any ideas.

Hi Dick, Please dont think I'm nuts but I looked at a product called a gearwrench it has a pass-thru socket system that eliminates the need for deep sockets. I found it at my local lowes store. I hope this helps all the best Woody.

The ratcheting end wrenches are about the handiest thing I've ever had. A couple years ago I needed exactly what you described, so I cut a cheap impact socket in half and welded a piece of 1" pipe between the ends. Gotta have a good hot weld, or they will twist in half.

McMaster-Carr #6023A12 is 9-1/2" long for 9/16
#6023A14 is 9-1/2" long for 11/16. Be sitting when you look up the prices.

Order them tomorrow and have them Wednesday or Thursday at the latest, if you use a credit card. Good folks to deal with, and have MANY products you can't get anywhere but there.

Snap on sells a set (1/2" to 1" I think) if you can find a dealer close. Car and trucks could give you a # if they have a dealer that stops in weekly. Each one has 6" of usable length in impact

A few years ago I bought a ratchet set from Sears called O-ratchet. They have a pass through design. I haven't seen them in awhile though. For small jobs they work pretty good but I wouldn't use them for anything heavy.

Snap/On sells sockets that are about twice as long(deep)as regular sockets. We had a set for parking brake and gas tank strap work and they were 1/2in impact sockets

Dick, years ago I needed a very long deep well socket to install clamp on duals on a tractor. I took a cheap socket and cut it on the chop saw. I then took a piece of tubing and welded each end of the socket to the pipe. I then had a socket about 8 or 9 inches long and use it to this day on other things (I have long ago gone to hub duals on all my tractors.) I have used this socket almost exclusively with an impact wrench. It isn't pretty but it works. Mike
