Here is a photo of a washer that is 1-11/16 in diameter. I am starting to put the engine back together and don't remember where this came from. I also don't know if one of my practial joker friends put in an "extra" piece to confuse me. any help is appreciated

I think your friends "GOTTCHU". The ID would have to fit a milled flat on both sides of shaft, so the washer doesn"t turn. The ID diameter should also match a shaft of that diameter.
We usto love adding an extra gear to machines being repaired, and watch the face of repairman, but didn"t dare laugh, or we would end up with "Blueing" or "grease" on our control handles. LOL

It looks to me to be part of the old style bendix assembly.

By gosh, I think you are right, Bob!!!!
Would have been in the bell housing, and fallen/pulled out, at time of the split, on the tranny/engine.!!?????

I didn't take the bendix apart. I just don't remember that washer when I was taking it apart. I have a photographic memory, but as I get older, I seem to run out of developer

That may be true, but how many times....if ever have ya split the tranny/engine apart????
A prev. Owner could have had a bendix come apart and that has been in the bell housing for a "Free ride", until you split it open!!
Sure does look like a bendix part to me!!!!!

It is the right shape for the bendix but i went out and took this picture of an old one. It should have had aslot for the spring and the hole size looks different that yours. may be something different. this washer was behind the spring but the end one should be about the same.

Dropping 3 or 4 left-hand nuts in the parts bucket can cause a little confusion, as well!

Now I know what to do with all those extra weed whacker head bolts and nuts they include!

Thanks for all the help. At least its not something thats vital to the engine. YOur help is greatly appreciated

Front wheel bearing washer? You put the outer wheel bearing on, then that washer, the adjusting nut, the keeper cage and the cotter pin.
