F16D CLANKING NOISE UNDER LOAD

Hello, New to the board. I own a low hours (610) F16d. Its been a great machine but I'm curious about a clanking noise it makes when under load in a higher gear. It almost sounds like gear backlash and is coming from the rear end. It makes the noise in 2wd and 4wd and goes away going down hill. Has this been experienced before? Thank you

I don't have a good answer for you. Out of curiosity, you might try pressing the differential lock and see if the noise dissipates or changes.

Thank you for your reply. Engaging diff lock makes no difference in the noise. Looks like I may have to tear into the transmission and see what I can find.
