false advertising

Have any of you seen the You Tube commercial of the new hose nozzle that is as good as a pressure washer? The commercial shows it cutting through tree limbs and out performing 3000 psi washers. German engineering and brass internal gears, for $49.95. Supposedly it increased the pressure of a garden hose by a million times. This seems like false advertising and should be illegal. Unfortunately someone will buy it and be disappointed. Ellis

I had a friend like that. His wife would say that if he seen something like that on tv, he would buy it and then be disapppointed.

They had to find a new gig, the cow magnets on the fuel lines, weren't selling. Had an old friend that put a "fuel economizer" on his 1 ton, 454 Chev. and couldn't figure why he had a loss of power. It was just a little check valve, basically, that restricted fuel flow. He brought it to me three times, and I told him what the problem was. Finally told him, "Take that d--n economizer and throw it as far as you possibly can, and your power will return." He did, and it did, end of story.

I haven't seen the "million times water pressure" claim on any of the ads I've seen. Even a water jet cutter for glass or metal tops out at around 100,000 psi. In fact I don't think I've seen any of them make a claim of any specific psi output. They make general claims like "a powerful blast", "high pressure" or "cleans like a pressure washer". Without a specific claim, I doubt anything could be done to prove their claim is unsubstantiated. Sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Buyer beware, as they say.

I didn't do the math, but the OP seems to think so.
I wouldn't pull the trigger on that gun for anything; I weigh 174#, it would blow me into the neighbors field.
I get a kick out of the commercial for a battery powered, hand-held blower. A woman is using one to push herself across a swimming pool in an exact straight line.
If the FCC shut down every false commercial, there would be none aired.

Speaking of AI generated ads, have a look at this log splitter pump ad from TEMU. I've never seen a log split that way!

And, pump on one end, engine on the other, splitter ram in the middle.

I bought one from a charity shop , virtually unused , still with stickers on . It cost me $5. Aus.
I had seen similar wild claims , certainly didn't believe them . I wanted it because it had a long lance , a decent lever shut off valve and a brass fan spray head which I now use to blast leaves out of rainwater guttering when connected to a high pressure water pump . It saves me bending over on the roof and gives greater reach from the ladder .
The pressure developed when on the town water garden hose is only good for sprinkling the vegetables and rose beds , certainly nothing like a pressure washer .

I assume all advertising is a lie. Nothing works as advertised.

I haven't seen that ad, but I have seen claims of unrealistic horsepower ratings that are probably not possible. 212cc engines that produce 7.5 hp? 301cc engines making 10hp? I don't think so. I suspect the oversight of that type of advertising is no longer being enforced.
