fan belt replacement

Greetings , We had our fan blades break , so had some damage to radiator , so we pulled it . Now we may as well replace the fan , altanateru belt on our 135 MF . Question is , we need to pull front end forward to get belt to slip past where hydraulic shaft threads in , we pulled had shaft out and we have a loader on front end . Looking for the best and safest way to pull this apart ? Thanks Much

On my MF 135 diesel tractor there is no front mounted hydraulic pump which I’m assuming yours has. Super easy to change the belt on mine. You will have to uncouple the pump to get the belt changed. Pictures would help a lot to help you with the repair.

Get some bolts about an inch longer than the ones currently holding the front bolster to the engine. There are 4 bolts and 2 studs. Support (jack) the engine under the pan to "float' those bolts so you can install the longer ones, one at a time. Remove the nuts and washers from the studs. The bolts and studs will keep the engine and bolster in line so you can move the bolster away from the engine enough to change the belt, then bring them back together and install the original bolts, one at a time. Depending on the bolts in it now, you might have room enough with those bolts if you remove lock washers and set the nuts at half threaded on.

A good trick when replacing belts like that is put an extra in and wire it back out of the way. If you ever need it it is there waiting for you.

It is a good trick. Just be very sure there are no oil leaks to get on it, there is room enough to do it and good places to tie it back to. If it gets loose and grabbed by the fan or running belt, it can get expensive fast. If you do it, check the securement regularly.

Yes , I don't remember ever replacing this belt in the 50 + years we have had tractor , but I know it was replaced about ten years ago when we had engine rebuilt . But this belt is really showing a lot of cracks already after ten years ! Yes we will be butting an extra belt in with ! Thank You !!

Why not just put a linked belt on it. No problem at all. I've been running one on my MF202 for about a year now.

May look into this . Yes my cousins husband was telling me something about this that a friend used at there walnut huller plant . We have belt ordered and ready to put on and put back together .. Thank you , we will look into this !!

Fellas , getting closer . Going to use a Gates Nut-A-Link B Belt . Can't transfer photo . This belt is orange with metal pins to hold clips for adjustment , seems to be working ! Thank you ,( and we know how to do to the other way too ) Thanks for all the help !!!
